Never initiated military action against any neighbour: India on Obama's remarks

India has said it never initiated military action against any neighbour conventionally and has a no-first use nuclear weapons policy. It said, there seems to be a lack of understanding of India's defence posture. Responding to a media query on US President Barack Obama's remarks on military doctrines of India and Pakistan, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup yesterday said Mr Obama's remark at Nuclear Security Summit in Washington recently focused on the greater risk of theft of small tactical nuclear weapons.<br/> Mr Obama had remarked that India and Pakistan need to make progress in reducing their nuclear arsenal and develop military doctrines so that they do not continually move in the wrong direction.

Mr Swarup said, this should be the focus of global concern.
