Netherlands PM Mark Rutte will be in Mumbai today to explore business opportunities

Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte will be in Mumbai today to explore business opportunities offered by Maharashtra and to understand the need for transfer of technology in many areas; especially agriculture. Prime Minister Rutte will begin his visit by paying tribute to the 26/11 victims at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Later in the day, he will attend a meeting with Chief Executive officers and business leaders. Mr. Rutte and his delegation will also meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and jointly address a press conference. The Dutch Prime Minister will visit the Prince of Wales Museum later in the evening.Both the parties are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a 35-km long coastal road. However, the top priority of the state government will be to gain access to Dutch expertise for tackling drought conditions prevailing in several regions. State Agriculture Minister Eknath Khadse told reporters that the state is keen to use Dutch technology to modernise agriculture, breeding of cattle and for improving milk production. A meeting will be held between the officials of agriculture department and Netherlands Foreign Trade Minister Liliane Ploumen and his colleague, Agriculture Minister Sharon Dijksma to discuss these issues. The minister said that discussions would also be held on use of technology to combat natural calamities and for construction of greenhouses.
