Netherlands have made a winning start to their World Cup Football campaign. In their opening Group 'E' match at Soccer City in Johannesburg today, they beat Denmark by two goals to nil. After a barren first session, Simon Paulsen's own goal in the 46th minute put Netherlands ahead. The Dutch consolidated the lead in the 85th minute when Dirk Kuyt scored the second goal. Netherlands have not lost to Denmark since 1967 on regulation time. But, the Danes have beaten the Netherlands on penalties once, following a 2-2 draw after the extra-time, in the semi-finals of Euro-1992. For the Dutch captain Giovanni van Brnckhorst, the win became a memorable one, as he was playing in his 100th international. He is the fourth Dutchman to win 100 caps after Edwin van der Sar, Frank de Boer and Philip Cocu.
