Nepal's Everest Women Seven Summits Eco-Action is all set to begin the first leg of their expedition to climb the highest peaks of each of the seven continents from 28th of June.Addressing a press conference in Kathmandu today Shailee Basnet, team leader of the expedition said all preparations have been completed to set a new world record for being the largest women team to do so.Nepal's nine-member all-women team have successfully climbed Mt Everest in May 2008 and would now scale Mt Elbrus in Europe, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Aconcagua in South America, Carstensz Pyramid in Oceania and Denali in North America.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the women summiteers will kick start their seven summits eco expedition later this month beginning from Australia's alpine region to climb 2,200 meter high Mt. Kosciuszko to mark the golden jubilee anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Australia.Nepal's team of young women climbers aims to climb all seven summits and set a world record for being the largest women team to do so. They will be using the expedition to highlight the urgent issue of climate change. Each of the women's' team, coming from diverse background and different fields of profession have compelling stories of struggle, challenges, hopes and determination to share. Encouraged by their previous successful Everest expedition, the team has embarked on a new challenging mission to scale all the highest peaks of the seven continents with enthusiasm, grit and determination. The members of the expedition will call on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav on Sunday to receive the national flag prior to their departure for Australia on Monday.
