Nepal’s PM hopes to strenthen ties with India

Nepal’s Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that he hopes to further strengthen ties between Nepal and India during his forthcoming visit to India starting on Thursday.

In an exclusive interview to AIR/ DD the Prime Minister said that he is looking forward to the visit with great expectation and fostering closer ties between the two countries. He said the entire gamut of issues political and economic will be discussed during his four day visit to India.

On the Power sector, the Prime Minister said the various Indian projects that are already invested will be continued and sought to remove apprehension that they will be stopped. He said that Nepal will seek to strengthen the transmission lines to meet the current deficit in power. Mr. Bhattarai said a breakthrough is expected in the coming weeks in peace process and he will be able to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Nepal, given the tremendous good will he has specially by the International Community.

During his four day visit, Nepal’s Prime Minister is to meet with India’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh,Vice President Hamid Ansari, meet with political leaders of various parties, have a visit to Jahawarlal Nehru University . He is also to visit Haridwar and Dehradun.
