Nepali Trade Union Leader Binda Pandey has been elected to the governing body of the International Labour Organisation, ILO. Pandey represented General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) at the 100th ILO Convention in Geneva, was elected on Monday as Deputy Member of the 188-member governing body. According to press release, she is the first women from South Asia to be elected to the ILO governing body. Thirty-nine percent of those elected in the governing body in this election are women. Binda Pandey is also a Constituent Assembly member from ruling CPN-UML and GEFONT is the labour wing of the party.
