In Nepal, the Nepali Congress has decided to nominate senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba to lead a national consensus government. This was decided at a meeting of the senior leaders on Tuesday. However if a majority government is formed the Nepali Congress has decided to nominate the Party’s Parliamentary leader Ram Chandra Poudel. Meanwhile the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (maoist) on Tuesday reiterated that the Party Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai will be their candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The CPN-UML has said that they are ready to accept the leadership of either the UCPN(maoist) or the Nepali Congress depending on a tangible plan of the parties. It has decided not to claim to lead the government. With the President fixing a deadline of 21st of this month to find a consensus candidate meetings between the parties and within the parties have increased. Our Katmandu correspondent reports, that if the political parties do not come up with a consensus candidate,by 5pm on Sunday the President will invoke article 38(2) of the interim Constitution asking the parties to form a majority based government based on voting in Parliament
