Nepali Congress, the second largest party in the constituent assembly has unanimously proposed Ram Chandra Poudyal, parliamentary party leader and the party Vice President as its Prime Ministerial candidate.This was unanimously decided at the central working committee of party held in Kathmandu today.Talking to newsmen after the meeting, party Spokesman Arjun Narsigh K.C said Poudyal's name was proposed by senior party leader Sher Bahadur Deoba and seconded by Kul Bahadur Gurung, both aspirants for the coveted post.Meanwhile, the opposition Unified CPN (Maoist) has decided to make all efforts to form a consensus government under its leadership. This was decided at the party Standing Committee meeting held in Kathmandu today to discuss the current political scenario and party's strategy on government formation. Talking to newsmen the Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma has said the party will keep all its options open within and outside the party for the formation of the new government.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that Nepal is set to elect its new Prime Minister on July 21 as parties failed to arrive at a consensus on forming a 'national unity government' after Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal resigned last month.
