Nepal, the two main political parties have announced their Prime Ministerial candidates, to lead the national government. The Nepali Congress has said that Sher Bahdur Deuba will be their candidate while the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (maoist) has endorsed the party’s Vice Chairman Baburam Bhattarai to lead the national government. Both the parties plan to hold talks with other parties and have claimed the right to lead the government . The Nepali Congress has said that both the Maoist party and the CPN-UMLhave already led a coalition governments after the Constituent Assembly elections in 2008 hence it can claim to lead the government. However the Maoists have said it is the largest party in the Assembly. With the president fixing a deadline till 5pm on Sunday for the political parties to select a consensus candidate for the Prime Minister, talks have begun between and within different political parties. With both the two main parties saying they have a right to led the national government it is to be seen how events will unfold in the next few days. If the parties fail to come up with a consensus, there will be voting in Parliament for a majority government.
