The President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav on Tuesday held separate meetings with the leaders of the major three parties at the presidential residence in Sheetal Niwas in Kathmandu. President Yadav, in his meeting with Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, expressed concern over the ongoing processes of peace and statute drafting. In response, Prime Minister Khanal is reported to have said that discussions among the political parties have been intensified to expedite the process. He also informed the President about India’s External Affairs Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna’s visit to Nepal, which begins tomorrow. The meet, which lasted for about an hour, among others also dwelt on the issues of expansion of Council of Ministers under the current government. UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he assured the President that the political parties are constantly holding discussion with each other to resolve the disputed issues in the constitution drafting. Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said that since the May 28 deadline is approaching, the President requested the parties to settle the disputes in the constitution drafting to ensure the constitution is framed in time and the peace process to a logical conclusion.
