India has agreed to export to Nepal an additional 240 MW of electricity in a bid to lessen the power shortage of the Himalayan nation. <br/><br/>A press release issued by the Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) in Kathmandu said the import of 80 MW power immediately from January and 160 MW from February will be made through Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur Cross Border Transmission line which was inaugurated in February.<br/><br/>An agreement was signed to this effect in New Delhi on Thursday between Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and state-owned NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN). <br/><br/>The new agreement on power purchase from India will to some extent address the problem of blackouts across the country. Nepal is facing under an acute shortage of power these days.
