Nepal stalemate continues

In Nepal, the political standoff between the three major parties over the resignation of the Prime Minister continues a week after they joined hands to give a fresh leave of life to the Constituent Assembly after its term expired on 28th of last month. While the Opposition Maoists have accused the Government of betrayal— alleging it had breached a verbal agreement on resignation of the Prime Minister within five days of arriving at a deal to extend the term of the constituent assembly—the main ruling alliance, Nepali Congress and the CPN(UML), have asked the Maoists to fulfil their commitment towards the peace process and constitution drafting before the resignation of the Prime Minister.
