Nepal government has beefed up security measures around Singh Durbar, the main government secretariat including the office of the Prime Minister in view of the two-day long picketing and demonstration announced by the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist)from tomorrow.The proposed picketing and encircling of the government secretariat is a part of the second phase of the protest programme launched by the Maoist from the first of this month against the President’s order reinstating the former army chief and demanding civilian supremacy.Meanwhile, Maoists Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has assured that his party's protest programme would be peaceful.Talking to newsmen in Kathmandu this afternoon Vice Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said his party is ready to follow the existing prohibition orders around the main government secretariat and will conduct its protests peacefully, saying that the Maoist have carried out their second phase of protest protests in a peaceful, disciplined and dignified manner.Last week, the opposition Maoists have picketed village and district administration offices and enforced a blockade of Kathmandu valley yesterday, which passed off peacefully. The senior Maoist leader said his party would organize another phase of protests if the current protest programme did not compel the government to fulfill their demands.
