Nepal remains paralysed for third day amidst Maoist protests

Nepal continued to remain paralysed as the Maoists enforced bandh as part of its three-day anti-government protests entered the third and final day on Tuesday. Buses and cars remained off the roads, main shopping complexes and market areas had shutters down and educational institutes were closed as agitating Maoist workers marched in various parts of the capital shouting anti-government slogans. The strike will end this noon with a public meeting organised by Ultras at Nayabaneshwor, the Maoists' Joint National Peoples Movement Committee has announced. The meeting is to be addressed by Maoists party chief Prachanda. During shut down the Maoist cadres vandalised three vehicles in the outskirt of capital city, including an ambulance at Naikap, according to the police.
