In a significant step towards institutionalizing democratic federalism in Nepal the newly elected members of Provincial Assemblies took oath today. <br/><br/>The Governors administered oath to the new members of their respective states amid historic ceremonies held at the temporary capitals of all seven provinces. First time in the history of Nepal elections for provincial assemblies were held in two phases on 26 November and 7 December last year. <br/><br/>550 members have been elected for 7 provincial assemblies. Left Alliance of CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) registered landslide victory in all states except Province 2. The Sanghiya Samjawadi Forum Nepal and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal alliance got majority in Province 2. <br/><br/>Now first ever provincial governments in the Himalayan nation will be formed soon. The newly elected provincial members will also participate in the election of National Assembly, the upper house of parliament scheduled on 7th of next month.
