Nepal's President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has urged the top leaders of the three largest parties – Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) to forge a consensus for extending the term of the constituent assembly.<br/> <br/>The President convened a meeting of top leaders of the three major political parties at his official residence -Sheetal Niwas – in Kathmandu today to discuss the political deadlock and the extension of the two-year term of the constituent assembly. <br/> <br/>The President's Press Advisor Mr. Rajendra Dahal told AIR Kathmandu Correspondent that the President urged the leaders of the three major political parties to take some concrete steps to arrive at a consensus to extend the term of the constituent assembly to save the country from plunging into uncertainty and political confusion.<br/> <br/>The meeting was attended by the Unified CPN (Maoist) Supremo Prachanda, Nepali Congress Acting President Sushil Koirala and the CPN(UML) Chairman Jhalanath Khanal. <br/> <br/>Speaking to reporters after the meeting CPN(UML) Chairman Khanal termed the discussions with the President as positive and said the three parties would strive to forge a consensus.<br/> <br/>AIR Correspondent reports that the meeting of the three major parties with President Yadav comes a day before the term of the constituent assembly ends on Friday.<br/>
