Nepal Prez extends deadline by three days to form a consensus govt

In Nepal, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has extended the deadline for political parties to find a consensus candidate for Prime Minister. President’s Press Adviser, Rajendra Dahal said that the extension has been given till Wednesday as per the request of the political parties.Earlier, an all party meeting had decided to request the President to extend the time by three days to form a consensus government. The President, had set a deadline of this evening to find a consensus candidate for the post of Prime Minister. The decision was taken after the parties failed to come to an understanding after holding numerous rounds of bilateral and multilateral talks between the major three political parties, UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, besides Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha. The UCPN (Maoist) has forwarded the name of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai as their candidate while the Nepali Congress has nominated Sher Bahadur Deuba to lead the consensus government.
