In Nepal, the counting of votes for the first phase of local body elections is underway in 34 districts. <br/><br/>So far Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 59 posts of Mayor and Chairperson and leading in 43. Nepali Congress got 52 and ahead in 38 local bodies. Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has won 21 and leading in 13. <br/><br/>For Deputy Mayor and Vice Chairperson posts, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 62 and leading in 36. Nepali Congress has got 37 and ahead in 30 places. Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) won 22 and leading in 16 local bodies. <br/><br/>In the capital Kathmandu CPN (UML) candidate is leading for Mayor post and Nepali Congress is ahead for Deputy Mayor. The historic local elections in Nepal were held after a gap of 20 years on Sunday. The polling for remaining four provinces will be held in second phase on June 14.

According to Election Commission of Nepal counting is going on in 257 local bodies out of 281. <br/><br/>Nepali Congress has won 14 posts of Mayor/Chairperson, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has got 12 and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) won at 6 local bodies.<br/><br/>For Deputy Mayor/Vice Chairperson posts, Nepali Congress beg 12, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) got 11 and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) won at 7 places. <br/><br/>Local elections were held after a gap of 20 years on Sunday. 73 percent voters exercised their franchise in 3 provinces. Polling was held for 281 local bodies out of 283. <br/><br/>Representatives for two local bodies have been elected unopposed. Election for remaining 4 provinces will be held in second phase on June 14.
