In Nepal, political parties have decided to request the President to extend the time to form a consensus government. A meeting of all political parties held in Kathmandu this evening decided to ask for extension of time to form a consensus government by three days. Home Minister and Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha gave this information after the meeting. The President, Dr. Ram Baran Yadav had set a deadline of 5 this evening to find a consensus candidate for Prime minister. The parties took the decision after they failed to come to an understanding after holding numerous rounds of bilateral and multilateral talks between the major political parties, UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, besides Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha. The UCPN (Maoist) has forwarded the name of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai as their candidate while the Nepali Congress has nominated Sher Bahadur Deuba to lead the consensus government.
