Nepal political parties table amendment proposal on Govt’s policy

In Nepal, sixteen political parties including the ruling UCPN (Maoist) and the Main opposition Nepali Congress have tabled amendment proposal to the government’s policies and programmes that was presented in Parliament -legislature by the President on Sunday. Taking part in the discussions today, 16 Constituent Assembly members presented 93-point amendment proposal on behalf their respective parties. The Nepali Congress has proposed to include the term people and democracy ‘instead of the words people’s war and people’s revolution in the policy and programme document.The Maoists have proposed to include the policy that Nepal’s foreign policy would be based on the principles of Panchasheel and non-alignment and on the principles of maintaining relations with all the countries of the world on the foundation of mutual unity, goodwill and equality. Madhesi parties have demanded that the government’s should recognize the Madhes movement. The debate on the government’s policies and programmes will continue for two more days.
