Nepal PM stresses for political consensus to draft new constitution

In Nepal, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal stressed the need of consensus among the political parties to draft the new constitution on time and to take the peace process to a logical end.<br/><br/>Addressing the inaugural function of the 12th Standing Committee meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal sought the cooperation of the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist) in the task of drafting the new statute on schedule.<br/><br/>He said the main priority of the government is to draft the constitution and to take the peace process to its positive and meaningful conclusion at the earliest.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has claimed that the new constitution can be promulgated on time only under a government led by his party.<br/><br/>Speaking at a blood donation programme in Pokhara on Saturday, Prachanda expressed hope that the High Level Political Mechanism would arrive at a consensus to resolve the political stalemate.<br/>
