Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba today visited flood affected areas of Tarai to take stock of the situation. <br/><br/>He directed army, police and other agencies to speed up rescue work and make arrangement for temporary shelters. PM Deuba also asked them to ensure that there should not be any delay in the treatment and emergency relief. <br/><br/>He also distributed food items and other relief material among the affected people. Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN Maoist Centre, Pushpa Kamal Dahal has urged political parties to come forward and help in rescue and relief operations. Talking to reporters at Janakpur today he stressed the need for all parties to unite and help in time of a natural calamity. <br/><br/>At least 128 persons have lost their lives and 33 are missing in the flood and landslide triggered by incessant rains. Crops worth billions of rupees have also been destroyed. <br/><br/>Meanwhile the situation in affected areas improving slowly. However, health experts have expressed apprehension of spreading water borne diseases. There are reports of increasing cases of fever, cold, skin and stomach problems in some flood affected areas.
