Nepal PM election postponed to 23rd August

In Nepal, the fifth round of voting to elect a new Prime Minister which was scheduled to take place today has been postponed to 23rd of this month. This was decided at the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of Parliament held in Kathmandu this afternoon.The Chief whips of three major parties – Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) had agreed to defer the voting at the request of the CPN (Maoist) following the death of its parliament member Ram Kumari Yadav on Saturday.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that Parliament which met this afternoon was adjourned till 23rd of this month after mourning the demise of the Maoist lawmaker and passing a condolence resolution.
