In a last minute dramatic development, Unified CPN(Maoist) has given written support CPN(UML) Chairman Jhaalanath Khanal, provided he can garner two-third majority in parliament. This was decided at the Maoist party meeting held in Kathmandu on Wednesday.Talking to AIR, CPNUML) sources claimed that Khanal has already received the support of 375 members and would need the support of another 26 more members to reach the two third majority in the 601 member House. If Khanal fails to do that, he would withdraw from the contest and Maoist Chairman Prachanda would continue to remain in electoral fray. To obtain two-third majority, it needs the support of either the Terai parties or the other fringe parties in the parliament.As reported earlier, Nepal's law makers will go to the polls later on Wednesday to elect a new Prime Minister in parliament. Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda, Nepali Congress Parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudyal and CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal are in the electoral fray.AIR Kathmandu Correspondent report that the parliament session which was scheduled to be convened at 11 on Wednesday morning has been delayed with political parties remaining busy in last minute meeting to discuss government formation.
