The Nepal parliament meeting to elect new prime minister has begun. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for the premiership. <br/><br/>Deuba requires 297 votes out of 593. Our Kathmandu correspondent reports that Deuba is set to be elected new prime minister as ruling coalition is having majority in the house. <br/><br/>Election for new prime minister is being held due to resignation by the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal. He had resigned from the post of prime minister on May 24 as per the power sharing understanding with the coalition partner Nepali Congress.

The parliament meeting scheduled for Sunday could not take place as main opposition CPN (UML) did not allow house proceedings. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that three major political parties have agreed to resume parliament from today. In a meeting held in the chamber of Speaker Onsari Gharti last evening to resolve deadlock, top leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (UML) agreed to resume parliament proceedings. <br/><br/>The meeting to elect new prime minister is scheduled at 1 PM. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for the premiership. Deuba requires 297 votes out of 593. <br/><br/>The ruling coalition including Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Center and Nepal Loktantrik Forum have more than 300 MPs. Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal have decided to support Deuba. Many small parties are also supporting him. Rashtriya Janta Party Nepal can also give conditional support. <br/><br/>As per parliamentary mathematics Deuba is likely to be elected with two third majority.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is the only candidate for the post and likely to be elected as the Prime Minister as ruling coalition is having majority in the house. <br/><br/>Interim Prime Minister and Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed the name of Mr Deuba. <br/><br/>Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and Loktantrik Forum President Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar supported the nomination of Mr Deuba. <br/>'<br/>Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had resigned from his post on May 24 as per the power sharing understanding with the coalition partner Nepali Congress. <br/><br/>President Bidya Devi Bhandari had accepted his resignation and asked Mr Dahal to continue till the election of new Prime Minister.<br/>
