Nepal Government has launched a 10-year-plan to cut reliance on vegetable imports from India. Kathmandu Post reports that even as the far-western region has seen a rise in commercial vegetable farming, the land-locked country witnessing a continuous rise in the imports of vegetables. <br/><br/>According to official data, the region imports vegetables worth 55 billion rupees every year from India. Exports volume, however, was negligible, the report said. In a bid to decrease reliance on imports, the government has launched a 10-year scheme to boost domestic production.
