Nepal historic cabinet meeting held at Mt. Everest

In Nepal, a historic cabinet meeting was held today at the base camp of the Mt. Everest aimed at drawing the global attention on the adverse affects of the climate change on the Himalayas. <br/> <br/>Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting at Syangboche, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said the cabinet meeting adopted the Everest Declaration which is Nepal’s status paper to be presented at the UN climate change conference at Copenhagen later this month. <br/> <br/>The Nepal cabinet also declared over 2000 sq km of land between Everest and Langtang as Gaurishankar national conservation area.<br/>AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that local people of Syangboche, near the Everest base camp presented a colorful traditional cultural show and submitted memorandums to the prime minister and his cabinet colleagues after the conclusion cabinet meeting. <br/>
