Nepal govt. urges major parties to put an end to political impasse

Nepal government has urged the major political parties to put an end to the current political impasse by implementing the three-point pact signed on May 28 between major two allies of ruling coalition-Nepali Congress and CPN(UML) and the main opposition party Unified CPN (Maoist) at the earliest. Talking to newsmen after an informal meeting of the cabinet held at Prime Minister's official residence in Kathmandu this afternoon, Information Minister and government spokesperson Shankar Pokhrel said an early end to the current stalemate will clear confusion and uncertainty, enabling the government to present the annual budget and pronounce its policies and programmes. Meanwhile, senior leaders of the ruling CPN (UML) have urged the Prime Minister not to resign immediately and to postpone summoning of the budget session for at least a week.
