Nepal govt unveils relief package to rehabilitate former insurgents

In Nepal, the UCPN (Maoist) lead government today unveiled a relief package to rehabilitate former insurgents. It says the seized property during their insurgency days will be returned to their rightful owners and directives will be given to the local administrative offices. Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun announcing the package in the presence of the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said in Kathmandu said guidelines will be worked out to bring relief to families of victims and martyrs of various movements. The package also provides for fighting corruption with a separate office to set up in the Prime Minister’s office besides ensuring easy loans for farmers. Prime Minister Bhattarai said that the relief package unveiled to gain support from the general public in the peace process and constitution drafting which are the priorities of the government.
