Nepal Government’s Policies and Programmes passed by simple majority

In Nepal, the government’s Policies and Programmes for the next fiscal year 2011-12 has been passed by simple majority on Thursday. Despite a dozen amendment proposals from the opposition, the Speaker Subash Nembang announced the passage of the policies clearing the decks for the tabling of the budget for the next fiscal year on 14th of this month. Earlier, responding to concerns of opposition parties, Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal assured that the completion of the peace process would be his government’s first priority and constitution writing the second. He added that the government will adopt a policy to maintain equal and mutual relations with all neighbouring countries and ties with India and China will be strengthened further.
