In Nepal, counting of votes for the first phase of local elections is underway. According to Election Commission counting of votes has been completed in 161 local bodies out of 281. <br/><br/>So far 5960 local representatives have been declared winners. Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 95 posts of Mayor and Chairperson and leading in 19. Nepali Congress got 86 and ahead in 16 local bodies. Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has won 44 and leading in 2. <br/><br/>Others have won 6 and leading in 1. For Deputy Mayor and Vice Chairperson posts, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 103 and leading in 19. Nepali Congress has got 67 and ahead in 12 places. Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) won 42 and leading in 3 local bodies. Rashtriya Prajatantra Party got 5 and Rashtriya Janmorcha beg 2. <br/><br/>In the capital Kathmandu CPN (UML) candidate is leading for Mayor post and Nepali Congress is ahead for Deputy Mayor. The historic local elections in Nepal were held after a gap of 20 years on Sunday. <br/><br/>73 percent voters exercised their franchise in three provinces in the first phase. Polling for remaining four provinces will be held in second phase on the 14th of June.
