In Nepal, three major political parties today decided to form a joint committee with one representative from each party to draft a common resolution to be placed in parliament to end the parliament impasse. This was decided at a meeting of the three major parties – Nepali Congress, CPN(UML) and the opposition Unified CPN(Maoist) held in Kathmandu this afternoon. AIR Kathmandu Correspondent reports that the three major parties have decided to form the joint committee to draft a common resolution to be tabled in parliament, after the Maoist refused to accept the resolution drafted by the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) and demanded amendment to the draft resolution. The opposition Maoists continued disruption of parliament session today as well protesting against the President’s move to reinstate the former army chief sacked by the previous Maoist-led government. They were demanding a debate in the parliament on the issue, which was opposed by the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML).
