In Nepal , the sub-committee formed under the Constitutional Committee (CC) on Tuesday agreed to adopt a bicameral legislative system at the centre in the new constitution. The legislative bodies will be named as the House of Representatives and National Assembly in the new statute. The meeting of the sub-committee in Kathmandu, took the decision after the Maoists backed off from its previous stand for a unicameral legislative system in the center. The sub-committee headed by UCPN(Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Chandra Dahal said , the basis of selection of leadership and representation in the legislative bodies will be decided in the next meeting . The five-member sub-committee, formed on February 25 comprises National Congress’s Ramchandra Paudel, UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal, CPN-Unified ‘s Kalpana Rana and Sadbhawana Party’s Laxman Lal Karna in the five member sub-member committee formed under the Constitutional Committee of the Constituent Assembly. The sub-committee members have decided to discuss the debated issues on priority basis in order to promulgate the new constitution within the stipulated timeframe.
