In Nepal, the network of animal welfare organizations has called upon the constituent assembly members to guarantee protection of animal in the new constitution. <br/><br/>Talking to our Kathmandu Correspondent, President of the network, Pramada Shah said due to weak legal status of animals, various forms of animal cruelty are practiced. Stating that Nepal is among the few countries in the world without an animal welfare act, Shah expressed hope that once the animals are given protection under the new statute, their rights will be ensured through different laws.<br/>
