Nepal again fails to elect new PM in 14th run-off poll ?

In Nepal, parliament has again failed to elect a new Prime Minister in the 14th round of voting held on Friday afternoon with the lone Nepali Congress candidate Ram Chandra Poudel unable to secure the simple majority. Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist) Prachanda withdrew from the electoral fray after the seventh round of polling last month.Announcing the election result, Parliament Speaker Subhash Nemwang said Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel secured only 96 votes in his favour, far below the 300 votes required for his election. Nemwang announced that the next round of voting will take place on November 1.AIR Correspondent reports that out of the present 599 members in parliament, more than 460 members from the Unified CPN (Maoist), CPN (UML), Tarai based parties and the some small parties did not take part in the voting process.
