Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan on Friday organized a cycle rally in Shillong, Meghalaya to mark the World Bicycle Day in line with the nationwide programme in collaboration with Meghalaya Cycling Association.<br />''<br />''Additional Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills district M S Sangma flagged off the rally from Youth Hostel, Shillong in the morning. A total of 75 cyclists, both men and women, of different age groups participated in the rally that also commemorates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – India@75. The Additional Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance and benefits of riding a cycle in our daily lives and encouraged the people of the Meghalaya to include cycling as part of the fitness regime.<br />''<br />''The aim of observing the World Bicycle Day is to encourage and motivate people to take up and adopt cycling in their daily lives for physical fitness activities and get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety, diseases etc. Adopting cycling by common citizens will also facilitate reducing carbon footprints.
