Negotiators hold talks with top Maoist leader in jail

Two of the three negotiators, Prof G Hargopal and Dandapani Mohanty, talking to Odisha Government over release of Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi, met top Maoist leader Ganti Prasadam today at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar. They reportedly discussed the developments in the negotiation process so far with the Odisha Govenment going on since last Sunday. Ganti Prasadam, whom the Maoists want to be part of the negotiation process, is considered to be a key man in the release of the abducted Malakangir district collector and junior engineer.Meanwhile, the third round of discussion between Odisha Government and mediators is expected to begin shortly at Bhubaneswar. All eyes are on the judicial process as the bail petitions of Ganti Prasadam and Padma have been moved in the Odisha High Court, while the bail petion of Sriramulu Srinivas has been moved in the fast track court of Malkangiri. Sriramulu, Ganti Prasadam and Padma have been charged with serious crimes including waging war against the country. The Maoists have been demanded swapping of Malkangiri district collector and junior engineer for release of these Maoist leaders. The Odisha High Court is likely to take up Prasadam and Padma's bail plea tomorrow, while the Malkangiri fast track court is likely to deliver judgement on bail plea of Sriramulu today.
