The European Union says that the negotiations with India on a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement are in an advanced stage. The EU Ambassador, Daniele Smajda, asserted that this will enhance India-EU investment relations. Addressing a roundtable conference on Indian investments in EU in New Delhi today, Ms Smajda invited the Indian business community to invest in Europe. She said that India has been playing an increasing role in attracting Foreign investments which has resulted in an accelerated rate of growth of Indian economy. She reiterated European Union's commitment to full openness towards Indian investments. AIR correspondent reports that the Ambassadors of EU nations who addressed the roundtable maintained that the European economy is not as weak and vulnerable as it is being projected in the post recession times. Speaking on the occasion, President of FICCI, Rajan Bharti Mittal expressed concerns on the rigid visa norms of the EU nations that discourage Indian businessmen from investing there.
