Negotiations for seat sharing in Maharashtra between major political alliances inconclusive so far

The tangle over seat sharing between Shiv Sena-BJP and Congress-NCP for the October 15 Maharashtra assembly elections doesn’t seem to get over.

There was no breakthrough till Saturday as BJP has rejected Shiv Sena’s seat sharing formula and given a new proposal.

Shiv Sena executive committee is meeting today and the party president Uddhav Thackeray is likely to make an announcement in this regard.

On the other hand, NCP gave an ultimatum to its partner Congress on Saturday to decide about the seat sharing pattern within one day.

AIR correspondent reports, the seat sharing row between BJP and Shiv Sena for the October 15, Maharashtra Assembly elections continues as BJP rejected the new proposal given by Shiv Sena.

In a late night development BJP state unit chief Devendra Fadnavis met Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray at latter's residence' Matoshree' and submitted a fresh seat sharing proposal.

Fadnavis has expressed hope that Thackeray will take an appropriate decision on the new proposal.

On the other hand, Nationalist Congress Party- NCP gave an ultimatum to it’s partner Congress to finalise seat sharing formula for the assembly elections within one day.

Addressing a press conference in Mumbai senior NCP leader Praful Patel rejected Congress's proposal of 124 seats and reiterated the demand of 144 seats in 288 member state assembly.

However, he made it clear that his party wants to contest assembly elections in alliance with Congress.
