Water Resources Ministry has constituted a negotiations committee to assess availability and utilisation of waters of Mahanadi and its tributaries. The committee will also examine existing water sharing agreements on the river and will consider claims of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand regarding availability and utilisation of waters of these rivers.<br/><br/>An official release said, the committee has been asked to submit its report within three months. It will be chaired by Member, Central Water Commission and will include representatives from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Representatives from Agriculture Ministry, Environment Ministry, Water Resources Ministry, and Met department will also be members of the committee.
