Negative impacts of demonetisation are visible: P Chidambaram

Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram today said that the negative impacts of demonetisation are becoming visible day by day as it is adversely affecting the growth rate of the country. <br/><br/>Speaking to media persons in Mumbai on the sidelines of BMC election campaigning, Chidambaram said that due to note ban the country is likely to grow by 6-6.5 per cent in 2016-17 which is much lower than what has been predicted by the Central Statistical Organisation and the Reserve Bank of India.<br/><br/>He also asserted that 2017-18 will not see a growth higher than 2016-17 as the world economy is not benign anymore. He also stated that taking away old notes and printing new notes will not put an end to corruption, or black money or counterfeiting.
