Indian nominee Neeru Chadha has been elected to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS). Chadha is an international law expert. <br/><br/>She won the crucial election to the top UN judicial body that deals with disputes related to the law of the sea. <br/>She has been appointed as a judge at the tribunal for a nine-year term from 2017 to 2026.<br/><br/>External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Gopal Baglay said in a tweet that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has congratulated Dr. Chadra for being elected as the first Indian woman on ITLOS. <br/><br/>Mr Baglay also said that she got the highest votes in the Asia Pacific Group.
