National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, NMCC, Member Secretary Ajay Shankar has said that Indian companies need to focus on innovation to boost the manufacturing sector. He said, this will help achieve inclusive growth. Addressing a function in New Delhi today, he said that the government has already announced a national manufacturing policy which aims at raising the share of manufacturing from the current 16 per cent to 25 per cent of the GDP by 2022. The policy also envisages setting up of national investment and manufacturing zones all over the country.NMCC, a body under Ministry of Commerce and Industries, was set up to suggest ways to enhance competitiveness in the manufacturing sector of the country.
