Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has said that for sustainable growth, the country needs to engage the under privileged and the weaker sections of society to fulfill the obligations of corporate world. She said this while speaking at the 12th PHD Annual Awards for Excellence in New Delhi. The Lok Sabha Speaker, commenting on the status of women in India, stated that the nation stands at the 129th position as recorded by the Human Development Index. Ms Kumar presented the Excellence Awards to five finalists under the categories Good Corporate Citizen, Distinguished Entrepreneurship, Outstanding Business Woman, Outstanding Contribution to Social Welfare and LifeTime Achievement.
