The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that there is need to increase the share of manufacturing sector in the GDP to 25 percent to create more job in the country. At present, the current share of manufacturing sector is 15 percent of the total GDP. Addressing the services conclave 2014 in New Delhi Mr Jaitley said that large chunk of people form agriculture are now migrating to manufacturing sector so therefore its a challenge for the government to create more job in this sector. Mr Jaitley said that India is endeavouring to become a global manufacturing hub and services sector is an areas where there is huge space to grow and India has potential to grow. He said services sector occupy about 60 percent of the GDP and this is one sector where governmental interference is minimal. The second aspect is that India has proved to be a competent services provider globally. Commerce and Industry Minster Nirmala Sitharaman who was also present in the function emphasized on the hidden potential of service sectors in the country. She said that government is committed to encourage and facilitate the services sector because its has immense potential to grow.Our correspondent reports that the two day conclave to create opportunities in promoting services export form India and to create an agenda through domestic reform for next five years. Services Sector is contributing 57 percent share in the GDP in 2013-14. The annual export of Services from India stands at nearly 152 billion dollars while the export of merchandise contributes about 312 billion dollars.
