Amid Prime Minister's push for simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha and state assemblies, Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi today said the Constitutional amendment and additional resources are required for this purpose. <br/><br/>Replying to a media query in New Delhi, Mr.Zaidi said the Commission has already conveyed its views to the Law Ministry and the Parliamentary Panel. He said the amendment by political consensus and certain resources like additional EVMs are pre -requisite for holding simultaneous polls. <br/><br/>Earlier on different occasions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a strong pitch for simultaneous poll saying frequent elections affect governance and also involve large sum of money. President Pranab Mukherjee had also endorsed the idea.<br/><br/>In September last year, the government had begun a public discussion on holding simultaneous elections on its MyGov web portal by seeking views of all stakeholders. <br/><br/><br/>
