Principal Scientific Adviser K. Vijay Raghavan has highlighted the need for introducing flexible work times and gender-neutral pays to enhance women participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). He was speaking at the recently held India-Israel Women in STEM conference. In the conference, experts from India and Israel highlighted the need for changes in the socio-cultural environment while deliberating on ways of achieving gender parity in STEM.<br />'' <br />'' Israel's Ambassador to India Naor Gilon said that greater women's participation in the tech sector will make women more strong and influential, giving a boost to their socio-economic situation in the society.<br />'' <br />'' Adviser from Department of Science and Technology Nisha Mendiratta said that one of the major issues regarding women's participation in STEM fields is gendered brain-drain in STEM. <br />'' <br />'' She said that this was reported by UNESCO in 2019 and is also evident in the gender gap at higher studies in science, particularly at the doctorate and post-doctorate levels. She said that society, system (Government Policy) along with support from family and work area could help enable women empowerment.
