Need for govts to increase number of doctors to cater medical needs of people: Vice president Naidu

Vice president M. Venkaiah Naidu today underscored the need for Governments to focus on increasing the number of doctors to cater medical needs of people. <br/><br/>Speaking after inaugurating a medical camp at Muchintal near Hyderabad, he said there is requirement for 10 lakh doctors in the country. Quoting WHO reports, the Vice President said at least 25 doctors should be serving ten thousand population in any country, whereas only 6 doctors are serving ten thousand population in India. <br/><br/>He said, Neeti Ayog has been mulling over establishing 187 new medical colleges across the country by 2022. He asked both Centre and state Governments to create awareness among people about their life styles and habits from medical point of view. He also distributed certificates and placement orders to those who completed skill upgradation programmes on the occasion.
