NEC meet to discuss development in north-east region

The 60th meeting of the North Eastern Council, NEC is being held in New Delhi today to discuss the development of power, education, science and technology and agriculture sector in the northeast. The meeting being held under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of Development of North East Region, DoNER and NEC Chairman, B K Handique is being attended by the Chief Ministers, Governors and Chief Secretaries of all the north eastern states. During the two day meeting a special focus will be laid on the vocational training of the unemployed youths and financial support to meritorious students of the region. Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on IT and Infrastructure Sam Pitroda and the chairman of the National Innovation Council, will also make a presentation on some possible innovations for the region. A Draft Master Plan prepared by the NEC on tourism in the area will also be presented at the meeting.
