Polling for the fourth phase of Bihar assembly elections passed off peacefully amid tight security. 42 constituencies including 14 Naxal affected went to the polls today. According to initial estimates, over 48 per cent voting was recorded. By- election for Banka parliamentary constituency was also held today.AIR Patna correspondent Krishna Kumar Lal reports that amidst tight security arrangements, polling concluded at 3 PM in naxal affected 14 constituencies of the state. In remaining 28 assembly constituencies polling will conclude at 5 PM.No major incident has been reported from any part of the constituency. One hour has been left to conclude polling long queues are being seen at many booths.By-election to Banka parliamentary constituency was necessitated following the death of sitting MP Digvijay Singh.Political fortune of 568 candidats including 58 women will be sealed after today poll.Prominent candidates whose electoral fate will be decided include four Ministers Ashwani Kumar Choubey, Nand Kishore Yadav, Ram Narayan Mandal and Damodar Rawat.State Director General of Police Neelmani told AIR that that jawans of central para military forces have been deployed on all booths. Jawans of special task Force on four BSF helicopters are keeping air surveillance to monitor anti social elements.FIRs were registered against RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by taking their security guards inside a booth of the Digha Assembly constituency, in Patna, to cast votes in the Bihar Assembly polls. The FIRs for violating the model code of conduct were by Digha Bock development officer at the Patna Airport police station against Lau and Rabari deviMeanwhile Maoists today blasted a landmine near a bridge on CHAKAI-JAMUI main road in Batia jungle area under Sona police station of Jamui district of the state. SP K. K. Singh said none has been injured in this incident. Jawans of BSF ratalliated after this explosion then Maoists fled away.
